These huge models have been printed by the client. Its my job to assemble and paint them. Display stands were also printed & painted by the client.
The USS Forrestal is an Insignia class starship and is 27″ X 17″ . It was assembled by the client but damaged in shipping;
The USS Röntgen is an Enterprise concept design, is 28″ X 10″ and will be started first. This model needs to be assembled. Because of the size of the print, there will be some alignment issues, but most of the model fits perfectly.
Assembly is finished, time for a grey coat and them masking for the top coat of white.
Mask removal;
The darkest of the grays has been applied. Masking has not been difficult, just extremely tedious.
Dorsal decal layout;
Final detailing and weathering in place. The lighting for the images is washing out some of the weathering, but it is important not to over due things just for photography.
The Forrestal is the next to enter dry dock.
Masking off for one of three base colors. Painting the bottom first to be able to use the base as a painting stand for the top.
Masking the top..
All colors applied, time to unmask and clear coat.
Time to add decals;
All decals in place, final weathering applied, finished!
Thanks for looking!!
